Turning challenges into opportunities

CHALLENGE project took part in the European Research and Innovation days. This conference aimed to show that R&I stand for our chance to change the future and they are not exclusively linked to the scientific world.

One of the main themes was the European Green Deal, a plan to make EU’s economy sustainable by turning climate and environmental challenges into opportunities and making the transition just and inclusive for all. Research and innovation will help accelerate the transition to a circular economy, a new definition of growth: 'less is more', based on the smart use of resources. That is why CHALLENGE perfectly fits in this perspective: we are working on SiC material properties, a compound of Silicon and Carbide, hence a semiconductor. It means that it has high voltage and temperature tolerance, and these features make SiC the most suitable material for the electronic control of electric cars, and the advantages would be clear: high degree of autonomy, low dissipation while driving and fast battery charging. charging.

It is necessary to prepare for the future now and all European levels must work together through an integrated approach and concrete solutions. Technology must contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and the democratic development of society, and that is the primary goal of our project too.
